If it is true there is strength in numbers, the Giants are just fine in the defensive backfield.
But if quantity does not equate to quality, the Giants could be in some trouble in their secondary.
On Thursday, the Giants signed safety Orion Stewart, who becomes the seventh new defensive back to join the team. The Giants are collecting spare parts cast aside by other teams and hoping some of them make enough of an impression to stick around on the roster.
Stewart, 24, went undrafted out of Baylor and spent last summer in training camp with the Broncos before he was waived.
