Giants fans looking for a change at right tackle should stop reading. It would save some disappointment.
Coach Pat Shurmur didn’t sound like he was contemplating benching Ereck Flowers after his shaky debut Sunday in a loss to the Jaguars, repeatedly coming to the former first-round pick’s defense.
“He’s like every player. He had a lot of really good plays, and he had a couple he would like to have back,” Shurmur said Monday.
Flowers, playing his first game at right tackle after moving over from the left side, committed two penalties on the game’s first three plays, was beaten for a sack by Lerentee McCray and couldn’t stay in front of Yannick Ngakoue, which led to Eli Manning rushing a throw, resulting in a deflection and a pick-six.
