The Giants asked the New Jersey judge overseeing the civil lawsuit that accuses the team and quarterback Eli Manning of memorabilia fraud to delay the start of the trial until June 11. The trial is scheduled to begin March 26.
The Giants, in their most recent court filings on Friday, say the attorney that the team had been planning to designate as its new lead counsel for this trial — Michael Kelly — is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed sickness and also has a trial in another case scheduled for March.
This is the first time the Giants have raised these conflicts in court filings.
