The Giants have advised draft pick Corey Ballentine to remain in Kansas and not attend the rookie mini-camp this weekend after a shooting that wounded Ballentine and took the life of his good friend Dwane Simmons.
Ballentine sustained a gunshot wound to his buttocks in the incident and has been released from the hospital in Topeka. He intended to arrive in New Jersey on Thursday night for the start of the rookie indoctrination.
The Giants feel it is better if Ballentine does not make the trip.
“We have been in communication with Corey since Sunday,” the team said in a statement.
