The Giants began 2016 with 21 players on injured reserve and are expected to add more later on Friday. Whether it’s football or blackjack, that’s a bust.
Three players — safeties Craig Dahl and Cooper Taylor and offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse — have already been ruled out for Sunday’s game with concussions and the Giants will need healthy bodies to get through the final game of the season. That could push this year’s list as high as 24.
This will be the third straight season the Giants will be at or near the top of the NFL in players with season-ending injuries — they had 22 last year — and Tom Coughlin is perplexed by why that continues to be the case.
