The Giants are taking another crack at obtaining an additional cornerback by signing Leonard Johnson, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Johnson has been with three separate teams over the past three years – Patriots (2015), Panthers (2016) and Bills (2017) — and has yet to remain with a team for more than three years (Buccaneers, 2012-2015).
The 28-year-old comes to New York after Sam Beal, who was drafted by the Giants in the supplemental draft last month, barely saw the practice field before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury.
In 15 games last season with the Bills, Johnson registered 52 tackles and forced a fumble in 15 games.
