Not every signing has to be a blockbuster. The Giants are making a low-key move, addressing their depth on defense by re-signing Jasper Brinkley, a fill-in starter at middle linebacker in 2015 who performed reasonably well.
Brinkley, 30, will return on a one-year contract. He returns even though the Giants already added Keenan Robinson, the former Redskin, to possibly start at middle linebacker.
Signed prior to last season, Brinkley played in 15 games and ended up starting nine, filling in for injured Jon Beason. Brinkley, primarily a run-stopper, had 67 total tackles, one sack and four forced fumbles.
