Michael Thomas is perhaps the embodiment of the type of players Dave Gettleman has tried to acquire since becoming general manager of the New York Giants in December of 2017.
Thomas, entering his seventh season, is a good football player. He has 31 starts at safety in 72 career games. He is an unspectacular player who is perhaps better suited to a reserve role, but can be called upon to play both safety spots and slot cornerback if needed. He started only six games in 2018, but was 10th on the defense with 521 snaps played.
