NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to place the franchise tag or transition tag on players eligible to become free agents on March 9. Indications are that the New York Giants seem unlikely to use the tag on any of their potential free agents, most notably defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul or Robert Ayers, or cornerback Prince Amukamara.
The Giants, of course, used the tag on Pierre-Paul last year. That, however, was before he permanently damaged his right hand in a fireworks mishap. The Giants are continuing to try to work out a short-term deal with Pierre-Paul.
