The New York Giants turned the page on the Jerry Reese/Tom Coughlin/Ben McAdoo era after the 2017 season with the hiring of Dave Gettleman as their general manager and Pat Shurmur as the head coach.
2018 saw very little improvement. The Giants finished with five wins after a 1-7 start, a slight uptick over 2017, when they set a franchise record for losses with a 3-13 record. Their point differential for 2017 was -142, the fifth-worst in their history, finishing only behind some of the team’s other most forgettable campaigns (1966, 1980, 1964, 2003).
The seeds for the future began to be planted last year.
