Quincy Monk, a former Giants linebacker, died on Tuesday, at age 36.
The University of North Carolina football program confirmed the death via Twitter.
"We are deeply saddened to learn that UNC's Quincy Monk passed away today," the school tweeted from @tarheelfootball. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
Monk spent three seasons in the NFL from 2002-2004.
He began his career with the Giants as a seventh-round draft pick in 2002, and played in 13 games with Big Blue. In 2004, he joined the Houston Texans for two games. He finished his NFL career with nine total tackles.
