Quincy Monk, a former Giants linebacker, died Tuesday after a brief battle with adenocarcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer. Monk was 36.
A seventh-round draft pick of the Giants in 2002 out of North Carolina, Monk played two years for the Giants, appearing in 13 games. He played one season with the Texans. In four years at North Carolina, Monk had 247 tackles and four sacks.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of Quincy’s passing this afternoon,” North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora said in a statement. “Quincy came and spoke to the team earlier this year before our Wake Forest game.
