It’s called a blue-ribbon panel, not a Big Blue ribbon panel.
But it certainly feels like former Giants general manager George Young’s best chance yet at Pro Football Hall of Fame induction is Wednesday, when 15 new members — 10 players from at least 25 seasons ago, three contributors and two coaches (Jimmy Johnson, Bill Cowher) — are announced. Young is one of 10 finalists in the contributors category.
The special, one-time blue ribbon panel was convened to celebrate the NFL’s 100th anniversary and includes Bill Belichick — a Giants defensive coordinator during the Young regime — and three of Young’s contemporaries who now are Hall of Fame contributors: Gil Brandt, Ron Wolf and Bill Polian.
