Flowers is Reese, Coughlin’s last chance to solve long-time flaw

It was merely one pick of the eight the Giants are scheduled to make in this NFL draft, but Ereck Flowers in the first round Thursday night with the ninth-overall pick might turn out to be one of the biggest players Jerry Reese has taken in his nine years as Giants general manager.

Literally and figuratively.

Reese is a general manager overseeing a team that has failed to make the playoffs the past three years and five of the last six. He, too, has spent a lot of his eight previous drafts swinging and missing on offensive-line prospects.
