It is easy to see, especially with the clarity and laser-sharp vision of hindsight, that the Giants were too full of themselves coming into this season. It is the claim put forth last week by general manager Jerry Reese and, surprisingly, not exactly rebuffed by coach Ben McAdoo or his players.
If the Giants did not buy into the hype, they certainly invested heavily in the belief they were not only good, but ready to take the next step, no questions asked. Here they are at 1-6, their goals ruined, and it is not yet midseason.
They were already 0-4, on their way to 0-5, when injuries punctured the roster, especially the offensive side.
