Former Eagles defensive back Walter Thurmond has retired at the age of 28, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Thurmond played one season in Philadelphia in 2015 after signing a one-year deal following an injury-shortened season with the Giants the previous year.
In six NFL seasons, Thurmond posted 119 tackles, three sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 22 pass breakups and scored two touchdowns.
Last season, Thurmond intercepted three passes, recorded two sacks and made 71 tackles while playing safety.
Prior to last offsaeson, the Oregon product suggested that he would prefer landing on a team that he could play cornerback.
