At least one joke from comedian and ESPYs host Joel McHale in Wednesday night's opening monologue was explosive.
McHale began one of his barbs by saying Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul was in attendance at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The camera then cut to a shot of nothing but a fake index finger resting on a chair, fitted with a Super Bowl ring.
The joke was in reference to Pierre Paul’s recent fireworks accident, which reportedly forced the Giants star defensive end to have his right index finger amputated.
