ESPYs besides Jenner: Lame A-Rod skit, tasteless JPP joke and awards for Jeter, Beckham Jr.

Alex Rodriguez, during a too-long, too-unfunny skit, apologized for everything except using performance-enhancing drugs while ABC made a tasteless Jason Pierre-Paul joke by showing what was supposed to be a severed finger with a Super Bowl ring occupying a chair during the ESPYS on Wednesday.

New York did manage a few serious moments during ABC’s and ESPN’s salute to themselves. Yankees legend Derek Jeter was honored with the Icon Award while Giants receiver Odell Beckham won for Play of the Year for his spectacular one-handed catch against Dallas last Nov. 23.

Rodriguez lost in the Comeback of the Year category — he was up against three athletes who suffered injuries — with the Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski winning.
