Eli on Giant offense vs. Saints: ‘We could have been better’

On paper, it appeared Eli Manning did all he could Sunday afternoon to will the Giants to victory at the Saints, tossing six touchdown passes with no interceptions, amassing 350 yards in the air on 30 of 41 passing and putting up 42 offensive points.

But the career-high TD performance was for naught, as the Giants’ defense faltered in a 52-49 loss. And a day removed from the historic game, in which Drew Brees tied the NFL record with seven touchdown passes himself, Manning was still thinking about what could have been.

“We knew we were gonna have to be productive offensively, and as good as we were, we could have been better,” Manning said on his conference call Monday afternoon.
