April 24, 2004: Amid threats he would sit out if they selected him, the Chargers draft Eli Manning with the No. 1 pick and trade him to the Giants in exchange for the fourth pick, Philip Rivers, a 2004 third-round pick, a 2005 first-round pick and a 2005 fifth-round pick.
Nov. 22, 2004: The Manning era officially begins in Atlanta, a 14-10 loss to the Falcons in which he completes 17-of-37 passes for 162 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
