Eli Manning shows he also can put Giants in the end zone

Eli Manning answered the bell.

A week after Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones led the team on a touchdown drive in his first NFL action last week, Eli Manning answered and likely quieted any doubts about him opening the season as the starter.

Manning went a perfect 4-for-4 passing for 42 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to Bennie Fowler. It got the Giants in the end zone against the Bears’ second-team defense to open both team’s second preseason game at MetLife Stadium on Friday night. The Giants needed 10 plays to go 79 yards.

Jones, Manning heir apparent whenever the time comes, created some buzz last week against the Jets when he went 5-of-5 passing for 67 yards and a touchdown in his first drive of the preseason.
