The end of the Eli Manning-Giants memorabilia fraud saga may be coming.
The quarterback and other team officials may avoid having to testify under oath because a settlement is a "possibility" according to a report by The New York Daily News.
According to The News, the legal process in Bergen County Superior Court "is being dragged out due to defendants supposedly resisting scheduling of their depositions," presumably in order to delay having to make any filings or statements under oath prior to a settlement agreement with the plaintiffs.
A spokeswoman for McCarter and English, the law firm representing the Giants, appeared to deny any strategic maneuvering, telling The News in a statement that "the plaintiffs are trying to sensationalize the mundane task of scheduling depositions, which takes place in every case, and is happening now.
