Eli Manning was a senior in high school and Drew Brees was a junior at Purdue when they first met at Peyton Manning’s playoff debut with the Colts in 2000.
More than 18 years, and a combined 471 NFL games later, the two quarterbacks will meet again Sunday as Manning’s Giants host Brees’ Saints at MetLife Stadium.
“I don’t know if either of us would have ever predicted that,” Brees said with a laugh on a conference call Wednesday.
Other than 41-year-old Tom Brady, they are the two oldest starting quarterbacks in a league that is largely trending younger at the position.
