Dyontae Johnson, who has spent the entire season on injured reserve, was activated on Tuesday by the New York Giants.
A linebacker, Johnson had an impressive training camp before suffering an ankle injury that was expected to keep him sidelined for only a few weeks. The Giants, though, left Johnson on IR until opening his 21-day practice window three weeks ago. That window was near its end when the Giants finally added Johnson to their 53-man roster.
“Definitely felt like I took that next step from year one to year two,” he said. “(Getting injured) was hard, just knowing that all my hard work had paid off, but I couldn’t play.
