Did New York Giants get value for Jason Pierre-Paul?

There are several layers to New York Giants trade of veteran defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul for a third-round draft pick and exchange of fourth round selections. For example, JPP operates as a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme, but in 2018, the team changed over to James Bettcher’s 3-4 alignment.

With edge defender/linebacker Olivier Vernon still in the fold, Big Blue was undoubtedly oversubscribed at the edge position. Add to it that general manager Dave Gettleman inherited one of Jerry Reese’s famous back-loaded contracts, and the makings of a predicament become clearly evident.
