The New York Giants and former general manager Jerry Reese used the 10th overall pick back in the 2016 NFL Draft on cornerback Eli Apple in hopes that he would become a star.
Unfortunately for Apple, things got so bad when it came to his play on the field that the Giants traded him to the New Orleans Saints in October of 2018 for a 2019 fourth round pick and a 2020 seventh round pick.
Things didn’t work out any better for Apple with the Saints because they declined to pick up his fifth-year option and he became a free agent and signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 but was released this past October.
