INDIANAPOLIS — The Giants have not taken a linebacker in the first round of the draft since Carl Banks with the second-overall pick in 1984. Eli Manning was 3 years old.
If they are to end that linebacker-less stretch, it likely would be for Devin White from LSU, considered far and away the top inside linebacker in this year’s draft. If he came off the board at No. 6 to the Giants, no one would question the value of the player at that spot.
White had a formal interview with the Giants this past week at the NFL Scouting Combine and he believes he nailed it.
