Davis Webb delivers bounce-back the Giants were hoping for

DETROIT — He needed this.

Davis Webb needed a bounce-back performance after a jittery preseason debut last week. Giants coach Pat Shurmur gave Webb the start at quarterback against the Lions, opting to keep Eli Manning on the sideline all evening at Ford Field. Thus, Webb was granted the rare opportunity for extended playing time with the first-team offense, although this was a facsimile of the real attack, with Odell Beckham Jr. held out of action again and rookie running back Saquon Barkley out with a strained left hamstring.
