Is New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman a mad genius – or just simply mad? He has had two unconventional offseasons in a row, choosing to take a different path that most experts suggested the Giants should take. Gettleman’s sanity was questioned in full after three very risky moves this past spring.
First, he allowed Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins to leave via free agency. Collins was one of Big Blue’s most productive and reliable players since they traded up to snare him with the first pick of the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Collins was named to three Pro Bowls as a Giant, and now will take his rugged style of play down to Washington, where the Redskins rewarded him with a six-year, $84 million contract.
