The preseason is over for Eli Manning. He will watch on Thursday as ballyhooed rookie quarterback Daniel Jones gets the start when the New York Giants fans the New England Patriots in their preseason finale.
Coach Pat Shurmur made that announcement on Sunday.
Left unsaid is that few Giants’ starters are likely to see significant, if any, playing time on Thursday.
Jones’ impressive preseason, going 25-of-30 (83.3 percent) for 369 yards, two touchdowns and a 1401.1 passer rating, has left many calling for Jones to supplant Manning as the Week 1 starter vs.
