Daniel Jones trending toward Giants return to cement Eli Manning’s farewell

Pat Shurmur’s definition of “fast healer” is coming into focus.

Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who has been described that way by Shurmur multiple times in recent weeks, is trending toward starting Sunday for the Giants against the Redskins. He missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain, after playing through the pain in the second half against the Packers on Dec. 1.

Jones took quarterback-center exchanges from starter Jon Halapio during the portion of practice open to media. Wednesday practice participation typically is a strong indication of game availability, though it is possible Jones could suffer a setback.
