The Dallas Cowboys are signing former New York Giants safety Darian Thompson to their 53-man roster.
The Giants drafted Thompson in the third round of the 2016 draft, and he started 18 games for the Giants, making 85 tackles, 6 passes defensed, and 1 interception. Thompson was a surprisingly waived after the final pre-season game when the team decided to go with former cornerback Curtis Riley as their free safety.
Thompson was injured in preseason and the Giants seemingly wanted a converted cornerback as a free safety, moving Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the position before waiving him and they tried William Gay there as well.
