Tom Coughlin did not come right out and shout “Pay the man,’’ but the veteran head coach certainly let his feelings be known Monday as he contemplated life with Eli Manning.
“Well, I think he’s better than … I think he’s prepared to be better than he’s ever been, to be honest with you,’’ Coughlin said.
That is certainly a vote of confidence for the 34-year old Manning, who is operating in his 12th NFL training camp on the final year of his contract, set to get paid $17 million for the 2015 season. It does not seem likely the Giants will allow Manning to play out his contract, and there is every reason to believe the market has been set for a player of his stature, age and position.
