Drew Brees celebrates one of his seven touchdown passes Sunday.

NEW ORLEANS — He could barely speak, he was so upset. He admitted he was embarrassed. He had no answers, not many words, no explanation.

“They did what they wanted to do,’’ Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said. “I can’t explain it, I can’t even lie to you.’’

As the best defensive player on the field Sunday for the Giants, Rodgers-Cromartie had the only interception of the day off Drew Brees. He also a huge hit that separated Saints receiver Willie Snead from the football, a fumble that was caught out of the air by Trumaine McBride for a 63-yard touchdown return.
