Coughlin: Jason Pierre-Paul might play Sunday vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Coach says Giants will "push the envelope" with JPP's conditioning this week to see if he could be ready.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin left open on Monday the possibility that Jason Pierre-Paul, who returned to the team last week following his July 4 fireworks accident, could play this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"We'll push the envelope a little bit this week to test the conditioning," Coughlin said Pierre-Paul.

If Pierre-Paul comes through the practice week well, playing against the Buccaneers "would be a decision we'd be confident in making."

Pierre-Paul, of course, has missed the first half of the season as his disfigured right hand heals following the amputation of his right index finger and other injuries sustained from the fireworks mishap.
