The Giants got good value on Sheppard, who signed a one-year, $840,000 contract last offseason. He played 41 percent of the snaps as the middle linebacker in the base 4-3 defense. Sheppard had 50 tackles, but his best asset was his ability to set the defense and provide leadership.
