Browns’ David Njoku thought Giants would take him in 2017 NFL Draft

David Njoku, the ascending third-year tight end for the Cleveland Browns and Cedar Grove, New Jersey native, thought he’d be taken by the New York Giants, his hometown team in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Miami Hurricanes star was highly-rated and at 6-feet-4 and 246 pounds, Njoku had the prototypical size to play tight end in the NFL. He was a natural fit for the Giants, who were seeking out their next great tight end.

But the Giants chose not to select Njoku when their turn to pick came at No. 23 in the first round. Instead, they opted Evan Engram, the speedy, athletic tight end from Mississippi.
