The opening weekend of the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl season kicks off with the Serby Says’ list of the top 50 players.
This isn’t any fantasy football list. This is a subjective reality football list that pays tribute to skill-position productivity but also acknowledges difference-makers among the grunts, tackling machines and coverage elite. It also will attempt to recognize players who generally are deemed underrated.
Candidates who did not merit consideration include those who have sustained a debilitating injury (Packers receiver Jordy Nelson, Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady, Giants receiver Victor Cruz, Giants defensive end Jason-Pierre-Paul) and those who will start the season serving suspensions (defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson of the Jets and Dallas defensive end Greg Hardy).
