The NFL's new extra-point rules aren't only having an effect on kickers. Now offenses have to be more prepared for the two-point conversion attempts that used to be rare and could come into play more often.
Starting this season, teams that score a touchdown will have the option of kicking a 33-yard extra point with the ball spotted at the 15, or going for two points from the 2-yard line. What's more, there are scenarios in which teams can change their mind if a penalty is called on an attempt. In other words, a team can line up for two, get the defense to jump offsides, then kick from the 10 on a more easily successful extra-point in inclement weather.
