When Nelson Stewart arrived at work on Jan. 10, 2012, he was more than surprised to see a solitary figure running routes down on Lupin Field at Isidore Newman School, in the uptown section of New Orleans.

“I said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he said, ‘That wasn’t good enough, I can’t take time off,’ ” Stewart recalled to The Post. “That’s the kind of player he is. That really always resonated with me. He never stops and he’s never content because he always feels he can do better.
