This is Antoine Bethea’s recollection of what a James Bettcher defense looks like:
“Aggressive style of defense, aggressive style of play. It enables everybody on the field to make plays on defense, from the front to the back end. I can play back in the post, read the quarterback and make plays.’’
Does that even remotely conjure up images of what the Giants looked like in Bettcher’s first year running the defense? Aggressive style? Not really. Playmakers front to back? Hardly. The ability for a deep safety to make plays?
