The Giants didn't hold auditions to see which wide receiver earned the right to show off his passing skills on a trick play.
If they had, Sterling Shepard would have entered.
"I got an arm," Shepard said. "I used to play quarterback in high school. Just go look up the film. I tried to tell the coaches."
Just about everything was going wrong for the Giants in the middle of the second quarter against the Panthers. They trailed 17-3 after special teams gave away a touchdown, and the dink-and-dunk offense had two punts, a turnover on downs and a field goal to show for four possessions.
