It’s known that Bill Belichick — who won Super Bowls as Bill Parcells’ defensive coordinator with Giants in 1987 and 1991 — really wanted to succeed Parcells as Giants head coach. Instead, with Belichick realizing Young did not think highly of him, Belichick took the Browns’ job in 1991, with Young favoring Ray Handley to replace Parcells.
