Detectives in Kansas are still searching for suspects two months after a shooting that killed a former college football player and wounded his roommate just hours after being drafted by the New York Giants.
Dwane Simmons, 23, who played in the secondary alongside his best friend Corey Ballentine at Washburn University in Topeka, died on April 28 when he was shot moments after telling two strangers outside an off-campus party that he and Ballentine didn’t have marijuana to sell them, according to Simmons’ father.
Ballentine, 23, was also wounded during the drive-by shooting, taking a bullet to his buttocks.
