The New York Giants had a disappointing 2017 finishing last in the NFC East with a 3-13 record. After a few key additions in free agency and a solid 2018 NFL Draft, the Giants are ready to make a run for the playoffs and show the rest of the NFC East that they mean business. These are the five toughest games that will likely stand between the Giants and a postseason berth:
5) at Houston Texans - Week 3
Houston is going to be a much better team in 2018 with Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt both fully healthy, along with the addition of Tyrann Mathieu. I'd expect the Texans to be a playoff team that will be looking to get off to a hot start.
4) at Dallas Cowboys - Week 2
The Cowboys could have very well been in the postseason if Ezekiel Elliott didn't have to miss six games due to suspension, and with him back, Dallas is thought to be Philadelphia's biggest threat in the NFC East - though the Giants would like to change that by beating them here.
3) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars - Week 1
Jacksonville is expected to build on their run to the AFC Championship Game next season and, if they get quality quarterback play out of Blake Bortles, may be the best team in the league. Eli Manning and New York's offensive line will be tested by that vaunted secondary and pass rush.
2) at Atlanta Falcons - Week 7
The Falcons may be one of the most complete teams in the NFL and the Giants haven't been a team that has performed well on the road. This is more likely to be a Falcons blowout than a Giants win.
1) at Philadelphia Eagles - Week 12
Let's face it, traveling to Lincoln Financial Field will be the toughest game for the Giants next season. The Eagles finished the regular season as the one seed in the NFC and are in Super Bowl LII. Before suffering a season-ending injury quarterback Carson Wentz, was a leading MVP candidate and this Eagles defense was one of the best units in the league.
