The New York Giants continued their defensive line overhaul Wednesday, adding DE Olivier Vernon.
Giants get DE Olivier Vernon, source says. For real.
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 9, 2016
Garafolo's tweet includes a reference to ESPN reporting a fake Fox Sports tweet saying Vernon joined the Jaguars. The exact terms for Vernon are staggering.
Olivier Vernon gets $85M over 5 years — WOW — with $52.5M in guarantees.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 9, 2016
It's the biggest deal for a DE in NFL history. That $52.5 million is more guaranteed money than J.J. Watt received in his contract.
The Giants beat out the Jaguars (for real) to land Vernon. He joins Jason Pierre-Paul and Damon Harrison as recent free agent additions.
