Jim Schwartz To Giants?
Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schartz has emerged as an early favorite for the Giants head coaching job, according to ESPN. Schwartz will have an interview with the Giants during the upcoming week since the Eagles have a first-round bye.
Schartz is 51 years old with a head coaching career record of 29-51. He spent his five head coaching seasons with the Detroit Lions and even though his record isn't great, he took a 0-16 Lions team and turned them into a 10-6 playoff team in just three seasons.
Josh McDaniels Favorite For The Giants
Despite the recent buzz for Schwartz, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels remains the favorite, according to Gary Myers of the New York Daily Post.
McDaniels has rebuilt his reputation while leading the Patriots’ offense for the past five seasons after a less-than-successful head coaching debut in Denver. Perhaps he can bring some of the "Brady Effect" to a Giants team who may be looking for a new franchise quarterback. McDaniels shouldn't have the final say in personnel decisions, especially in the draft. That's what ruined his tenure with Denver.
Giants Seeking Matt Patricia Interview
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Giants have reached out to the Patriots seeking permission to interview defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
Patricia is 43 years old and has never been a head coach in the NFL. However, gets to learn from one of the greatest NFL minds under Bill Belichick and could get the Giants defense back on track. The former rocket scientist has done a little bit of everything since joining the Patriots in 2004. He's served as an offensive assistant, offensive line coach, a linebackers coach, a safeties coach and took over as the defensive coordinator in 2012.
