The New York Giants will be hosting a ton of local talent when they hold their workout day on April 9th, and there's one New York-born draft prospect (and lifelong Giants fan) that could very well be a favorite to turn Giants coaches and executives' heads that day.
Here's Nick Powell of NJ Advance Media with the report:
[Ali] Marpet, a 6-4, 304 pound offensive lineman out of Division III Hobart & William Smith College, will be in attendance at the Giants' workout day, a league source confirmed with NJ Advance Media.
Marpet grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York and told the NFL Network in February that if he had to pick one team to draft him in May, it would be the Giants, the team he rooted for as a kid.
Marpet will get his chance to impress the Giants brass on Thursday at their local workout, but he's already done everything he can to put himself on the map as an intriguing offensive line prospect. Marpet ran the fastest 40-yard dash of any offensive lineman at the NFL Combine in February, at 4.98 seconds, proving that the athleticism he flashed against lower-level opponents in college was no fluke.
Marpet currently projects as a mid-round prospect on most draft analysts' boards, with dissonance about whether he's better suited as an NFL center or guard standing as one of biggest question marks heading into draft day.
