Count New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese as a fan of dynamic second-year defensive end Damontre Moore.
"I think he needs to play a few more snaps," Reese said, via Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. It seems like when he gets in the game, he makes something happen.’’
“I can’t lie, though, when I get a few phone calls or text messages, people saying ‘Your GM said this,’ it gets me a little excited,’’ Moore admitted. “I got all the right people saying it so it’s only a matter of time. Every time they tell me they’re going to do something or something will happen, it’s happened.’’
Defensive line coach Robert Nunn made it clear that he is going to give Moore "more at-bats from this point on," giving Moore the opportunity a chance to shine with his playing time increased.
“I got to just build up their trust,’’ said Moore, who has two sacks. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Trust don’t come overnight.’’
Patience hasn't been easy for Moore to maintain over his first season-and-a-half with the Giants. However, he will be rewarded for waiting if he continues to produce every time he steps on the turf.
