In the 44th minute, Mendoza received a pass from Villa on the counterattack, took a touch and launched a curler from outside the box, beating Chicago goalkeeper Sean Johnson to put NYCFC up 3-1 right before halftime.

In the 83rd minute, Villa received a through ball from Khiry Shelton, took a touch to his left foot and slotted home to make the score 4-1.
